The child with athetoid (involuntary movement) was counting using stones, showing the monitoring  team what she had learned. The home- based approach uses local materials found within the home environment to teach children various skills.

Educational and Social support to children with disability

JK, is a teenage with hard of hearing. He show cased his talent at the intercontinental hotel during one of the meetings hosted by Zambia Natioanal Education Cooalition (ZANEC). He makes different things like mansions with   electricity (from batteries), a hut, tanker, tractor and many other small things showing the different environments, as seen in the picture. He is innovative and uses local materials to build his model structures. His disability has not hindered him from enjoying his childhood as he discovers his potential. He is supported by AHDI and is currently studying Gen Agriculture at one of the government vocational centers.

Training of the new H/SBEP Volunteer teachers in the implementation of the programme

The home based education volunteers listening to the child protection policy (CPP) presentation done by the AHDI Director during end of year evaluation meeting. The activity was very important  and was meant to help them function better as they worked in the communities with families.
